Shahid Kapoor Saves Shaandaar Director!

Director Vikas Bahl is busy gearing up for the release of his upcoming Shahid Kapoor-Alia Bhatt starrer, Shaandaar.

Given the fact that it is Bahl's second directorial venture after Queen, Shaandaar has already generated a strong buzz. Its songs have also been well-received by the audience.

So far, so good. But what is not so good is the attitude of the film's lead actors, Shahid and Alia.

Call it media paranoia or over-protectiveness, they seem to take umbrage at even the simplest questions. Last time out, Alia kept butting in when we asked Shahid to speak about his marriage(Alia & Shahid, You've Got No Right To Make A Mockery Of The Media, August 28).

Another incident took place last night, during the launch of the rom-com's latest song, Neend Na Mujhko Aaye. (Shahid-Alia To Keep You Awake With 'Neend Na Mujhko Aaye'!, October 9)

We asked Vikas a question based on our exclusive story that Shaandaar's producer Karan Johar had asked him to trim the film by 15 minutes (Karan Johar Cuts Shahid-Alia's Shaandaar Short, October 8).

When asked if Karan was not happy with the length of the film, Vikas kept mum.

But quite unexpectedly, Shahid intervened, saying Karan had a problem with the film's 'breadth' and not its length.

Nice attempt at humour, Shahid, but it did not escape our notice that you DID NOT deny our story.

Breadth or length, the fact remains that Karan did snip the film. So, here's a big "Thank You" for confirming the cut.

Though we understand the actor's eagerness to save his director from -- what he thought -- was an embarrassing situation, we would have appreciated if Vikas had answered our question.

He is the captain of the ship -- or maybe he was -- until Karan entered the scene with his sharp, pointed scissors.
